We are very pleased to announce the first implantation in Greece of the Reverse Total Shoulder Arthroplasty, specifically the Univers Reverse with MGS glenoid by Arthrex. This is a well-proven and exceptional arthroplasty with excellent long-term survivorship in the top centers of the United States, designed to be both versatile and fully customized to the anatomy and specific needs of each patient.
The prosthesis closely mimics normal anatomy, as the neck-shaft cut is performed at 135 degrees depending on the individual patient. Furthermore, the glenoid component—beyond its state-of-the-art design and premium materials—is stabilized by a powerful central screw and incorporates locking mechanisms. These features allow the surgeon to securely lock every component of the prosthesis, ensuring a reliable and excellent outcome every single time.
Our patient is recovering smoothly at home, having been discharged just a few hours after the procedure. For the first time in years, she is completely pain-free, after suffering from severe rheumatoid arthritis of the shoulder accompanied by complex bone deformities. She is already performing her rehabilitation exercises normally, just 24 hours post-surgery.
We anticipate a complete return to normalcy, with a full range of motion and strength very shortly. The procedure was performed under regional anesthesia through a minimally invasive incision, and was, of course, entirely bloodless.
